Some examples of feedback

It is always very rewarding to receive feedback from clients and below are some examples.

Assessment of gifted and dyslexic pupil aged 8 years. Dated 8th September 2011

Two years ago you assessed our daughter C.. Your report has been a continued source of encouragement for her during difficult times at school when she has felt less competent than others. As a result she has made real progress at school since your assessment and the extra support received at school as a result. We were encouraged enough to let her to sit local grammar school entrance tests.

From parent of 13 year old boy - Dyslexia, full assessment and report. Also report to gain exam concessions dated 24th January 2011

Thank you very much for producing the report so quickly. Thanks also for the thoughtful comments about L. and our present circumstances. In fact my wife zealously passed the report to the school straight away - I discussed it with L's helper, Mrs F, on Friday at length, she thought it a good report and confirmed a lot of her feelings, and it gives her the evidence she needs to implement your recommendations. So thank you so much again. I'll let you know if there is further feedback. Warm regards

Part of Tribunal Decision for severely autistic 13 year old boy seeking specialist residential provision dated August 2010

We noted also the evidence of Gillian Willis, who we found to be an impressive witness, that in the right educational environment, he could be expected to make progress.

From mother of a 13 year old boy who was attending a mainstream comprehensive with little support dated June 2010

I would like also to take this opportunity to thank you, once again, for your latest help Gill. Your response to the LEA was absolutely wonderful. And we have now received good news. They have accepted to send A. to a specialist day school for speech, language and communication needs as you have recommended. Although it is not residential, because they are on tight budget and can't afford a residential school, I am still very pleased with the news since A. is going to a specialist school and we didn't have to go to tribunal and that saved us a lot of time. The solicitor is very pleased too. We have visited B. school which was a school you have recommended to me and A and I loved it. Next week, A is going there to be assessed for two days and then they will let us know if he got a place. I hope he will.

All this is thanks to you Gill, you set us on the right road with your reports, help and advice and I am grateful to you for life.

Child with dyslexia dated Jan 2010

I just wanted to thank you again for assessing T. I showed her GP the report especially the part about the slow information processing. The GP made a referral to have a hearing test and her appointment was last week Monday, They have found out that she has hearing loss in her left ear, the inner ear is weak. If it was not for your report goodness knows!'

DSA Assessment for mature adult dated January 28 2010

Just wanted to email to say thank you for doing the assessment last week and thank you for getting the report back so quickly. I was really nervous so appreciated how kind you were and how painless an experience you made it. Best wishes and many thanks again.

Thanks from a parent dated March 2 2009

Thank you very much. Can't get over how efficient you are. Emailed  report to school this morning. The SENCO has just phoned and was delighted with your clear recommendations.

E-mail from parent of a child with Speech and Language difficulties dated September 2008

Thank you so much for the outstanding report that you completed for our son B. David and I are fully aware that without your detailed and thorough report regarding our son he would not be starting his new school, B.H in September 2008. After two long painful years we can finally rest knowing that B's needs will at long last be met. Your independent report was honest and accurate and one of the best decisions we have made.

We cannot thank you enough for your professionalism.

An e-mail from a parent dated March 2007

"The LEA finally relented and agreed to fund the place when it became apparent that we were intent on fighting and that they had no chance on Earth of winning a tribunal. Obviously, your input was the key factor in swaying their decision and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you've done for us - and, more importantly, for XXX. This will make the most enormous difference to the rest of his life. You should be so proud of the contribution you make to the happiness of children like XXX and to their families.

Thank you for everything."

'Thank you Gill for everything because if not for you and your professional view of (child), and having the courage to say what no-one else had the courage to say, all of this may well have been swept under the carpet again'

May 2005 - e-mail from a guardian

'I am so pleased with the School. It was always the right school for S. and I am happy I listened to your advice and opinions. You are truly a professional with a heart which is rare these days. Once again Gill, I would like to say how pleased we are to have met you. Without you and your assessment of S., his future was looking grim. Now he has a bright future ahead of him, full of opportunities and above all he is happy!.'

A letter from a parent dated
September 2002

'In April this year you saw my daughter and conducted a psychological assessment. I just wanted to let you know what positive remarks have been made about the clarity and thoroughness of your report by both teachers at school and the speech and language therapist we have seen subsequently.

The actual assessment proved a wonderful step forward for my daughter. We read your report through together and my daughter realised that the difficulties she had been having in class were due to a learning difficulty and not lack of ability. When she returned to school after the Easter holidays she rang me at work at the conclusion of the first day to tell me what a great day she had had. She had found the courage to put her hand up in class to ask for clarification for the first time. She has certainly grown in confidence since.

Thank you again for seeing my daughter and for producing such a useful report'.

A letter from a Solicitor

Having carried out an assessment on a child with Autism who was involved in an ABA programme, the solicitor commissioning the work wrote:

We would just like to say Thank you for getting back to us so quickly with J's assessment results. Now with the information provided we can ensure that J will be able to achieve his full potential at senior school with the recommendations you have suggested. We appreciate the information and advice which you have given to us, especially who to contact for Vision and Learning assessment. So again THANK YOU'..

Feedback from a secondary school SENCO dated 1st November 2010

Thank you for all the great reports that you've done for "my" pupils! They are clear and not full of wiffle-waffle which I have to wade through with a magnifying glass to glean one useful piece of information! The teachers can read them and understand them quickly without me having to spend hours summarising them.

From a Solicitor regarding 16 year old boy with Dyslexia dated 23 July 2010

The report you have produced is excellent and therefore does not need to be amended.

E-mail from parent of a Year 9 boy not achieving to potential dated June 6 2010:

Many thanks for seeing C. last week. I have read the report with interest and found it to be an extremely accurate assessment of C. and his difficulties. I look forward to passing it on to his school and hope that it will enable them to gain a better understanding of C. as a whole and help them to make better progress from now onwards. Thanks again

Feedback from parent of gifted child dated March 2010

Many thanks for an in-depth and detailed report. It is fantastic. We now know the way forward for our daughter and will push to get her the opportunities that she needs. We had no idea that she was so gifted.

Email regarding child with specific learning difficulties dated Jan 20 2010

Many thanks for all your help - much appreciated. As you say, anything that builds E's confidence is going to be beneficial to her and I am so grateful for your recommendations as I now know which way to proceed..

An Email dated January 18 2010

Hi Gill
You may remember we came to you several months ago to assess C. who was having problems with writing at school.
I just thought I would give you a quick update.
Having taken your report to the school and discussed the content at length, some interventions were put in place for Connor. Finally the Senco agreed that C. be prioritised for additional tests with the borough EP. Consequently we have recently received written confirmation that C.  has significant difficulties with literacy and has therefore been assessed as Dyslexic.
So this was just to let you know how important your assessment was in the process and to thank you for your comments and help within the report.

Best wishes.

Telephone message September 2009

'You assessed my daughter back in 2002 and I have just been looking through her paperwork again.  I wanted to say a big thankyou and say how much we appreciated the work you did all those years ago.  My daughter is still in educaton and achieving very well.  After reading your report again, you just got my daughter down to a T, so keep up the good work and thank you ever so much again.'

DSA Assessment feedback dated July 2009

Just a note to thank you for the Dyslexia results you gave me.  The institute agreed to the extra 50% you recommended!!  Thanks very much for recommending this.  I didn’t ever think they would go above 25%.

It certainly takes a lot of the pressure off me, and hopefully they can assess me on my skills rather than my reading ability.

Thanks again.

Dated September 8 2008

'I am delighted to inform you that our matter has finally been settled and confirm that the Local Authority have agreed to place our son at our chosen school.

I would like to take this opportunity to express our wholehearted gratitude to you for your support of our case.  The kindness and sensitivity you showed towards our son during your assessment of him was truly exceptional and you were able to put him at ease during what was for him an incredibly difficult time.

Your comprehensive and detailed report has without doubt been instrumental in altering the Local Authority's position confirming that our son would be totally unable to cope within a mainstream comprehensive school.

Gill, it has been a long and stressful battle which I am sure would have been much tougher were it not for your kindness, support and absolute professionalism.  Thank you'.

September 2006 Letter from a Solicitor

'I am delighted to report that the recent tribunal hearing in this case resulted in complete success, the tribunal agreeing that (child's) educational needs should be defined broadly and that he needed a waking day curriculum: they therefore agreed to name (private residential school) in Part 4. You will note that the tribunal preferred your evidence over that of the LEA Psychologist, quoting extensively from your report in their decision'.

July 2006 - e-mail from a parent following a successful Tribunal

'Sorry to get all emotional earlier but was and still am in a state of shock and so is my husband. Thank you so much for all you have done for us'

April 2005 - e-mail reference from a parent of a child on an ABA programme

'Gill is a very professional and understanding lady. She knew all about ABA and the difficulties faced by us as parents. She has a vast knowledge of children of different ages and has attended many Tribunals. At theTribunal she was very professional and cool, she knew exactly where all her information was and put our case forward very well indeed. There were difficult questions and she answered each one confidently. We were very pleased that we had Gill on our team. We would recommend Gill Willis to any other parents who need either reports or Tribunal assistance'

April 2005 - e-mail reference from a parent of a child on an ABA programme

'Gill sent her report very promptly (within a week of her visit) giving us plenty of time before the Tribunal. She attended the Tribunal hearing as our expert witness. She came at our request a very short notice despite her having heavy commitments in the same week. She was a strong witness at the hearing and able to give persuasive verbal evidence. With her knowledge of Autism and AVA she made a good case for our child. Her evidence was instrumental in the tribunal's decision to order the LEA to fund our programme. We found Gill Willis to be highly professional, knowledgeable and supportive and would recommend her, without hesitation, to other parents seeking an independent Ed. Psych.

A note from a mother of a teenage boy with Asperger Syndrome:

'I just wanted to say thank you and show my appreciation for the superb report you produced. It is the most honest and detailed report that has ever been written on my son before'.

An e-mail from a solicitor

In relation to a report which I had produced to enable parents to contest the LEA decision not to issue a Statement of Special Educational Need for their child, the solicitor said:

'Thank you for your masterly rebuttal of the LEA case.'

An e-mail from a parent
This parent contacted me following a referral and explained:

'I was originally given your details by a parent who attends our group. She was very pleased with the way you engaged with her child and the professional way in which you provided her with a report.'
